Where was Yeshua during the seven days following His appearance to the disciples on the evening of Month 1, Day 19 (Sunday), the day of His resurrection? The Gospels are silent about His whereabouts until the next recorded appearance on Month 1, Day 26—the Sunday following the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This day, known as the Waving of the Sheaves or First Fruits (Barley), also marks Day 1 of the 50-day Omer count leading to Shavuot.
I firmly believe that Yeshua ascended to the heavenly Father to be consecrated into the most righteous office of Eternal High Priest, according to the order of Melchizedek.
Making the Case for the Consecration of Yeshua
The Hebrew word translated as “consecration” is millu (H4393), which refers specifically to the installation or ordination of a priest. This term, when viewed alongside Malki-Tzedek (H4442), meaning “my king is righteous,” provides a powerful framework for understanding Yeshua’s elevation. His consecration was not merely symbolic—it was the divine appointment of a righteous King-Priest into the eternal order of Melchizedek, foreshadowed in Torah and fulfilled in the heavenly realm.
Yahuah said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.” Yahuah will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalem; you will rule over your enemies. When you go to war, your people will serve you willingly. You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew. Yahuah has taken an oath and will not break his vow: “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” Psalm 110:1-4 NLT
Exodus 29 and Leviticus 8 provide detailed instructions that Moses carried out when consecrating his brother Aaron and Aaron’s sons as ministering priests to Yahuah. Their service began at the Tent of Meeting during Israel’s wilderness journey and continued in later generations, including during the time of David’s tabernacle and ultimately in the temple built by Solomon
Then you shall kill the ram, and take some of its blood, and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aharon, and on the tip of the right ear of his sons, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood on the altar roundabout. Exodus 29:20 HNV
Moshe took some of the anointing oil, and some of the blood which was on the altar, and sprinkled it on Aharon, on his garments, and on his sons, and on his sons’ garments with him, and sanctified Aharon, his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him. Moshe said to Aharon and to his sons, “Boil the flesh at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and there eat it and the bread that is in the basket of consecration, as I commanded, saying, ‘Aharon and his sons shall eat it.’ What remains of the flesh and of the bread you shall burn with fire. You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting seven days, until the days of your consecration are fulfilled: for he shall consecrate you seven days. What has been done this day, so Yahuah has commanded to do, to make atonement for you. At the door of the Tent of Meeting you shall stay day and night seven days, and keep the charge of Yahuah, that you don’t die: for so I am commanded.” Aharon and his sons did all the things which Yahuah commanded by Moshe. Leviticus 8:30-36 HNV
Some may argue that the seven-day consecration applies only to the Levitical priesthood and not to Yeshua. However, Hebrews 8 references the instructions Yahuah gave to Moses during his forty days and forty nights on Mount Sinai, revealing a heavenly pattern that points beyond the Levitical order.
Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic Yahuah in heaven. There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by Yahuah and not by human hands. And since every high priest is required to offer gifts and sacrifices, our High Priest must make an offering, too. If he were here on earth, he would not even be a priest, since there already are priests who offer the gifts required by the law. They serve in a system of worship that is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven. For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, Yahuah gave him this warning: “Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you here on the mountain.” But now Yeshua, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with Yahuah, based on better promises. If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it. But when Yahuah found fault with the people, he said: “The day is coming, says El Shaddai, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. Hebrews 8:1-8 NLT
Yeshua is our righteous High Priest, having lived on earth for over thirty years and facing every form of temptation—yet never once did He sin. Throughout His time among us, He showed unwavering love, meeting people where they were with compassion, grace, patience, and steadfast kindness. Above all, He remained faithful to His Father’s promise and the oath that established His eternal role.
So Yahuah has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for Yahuah to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into Yahuah’s inner sanctuary. Yeshua has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:18-20 NLT
A Prophetic Foreshadowing
Yeshua’s resurrection and seven-day consecration beautifully foreshadow the Day of the Lord, when the resurrected saints will rise to meet Him in the air on their way to the Heavenly Temple, where they will be consecrated as eternal priests and kings. From there, they will return to earth within the New Jerusalem, to serve and minister before our heavenly Father forever.
…and from Yeshua the anointed. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. He has made us a Kingdom of priests for Yahuah his Father. All glory and power to Yahuah forever and ever! Revelation 1:5-6 NLT
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Yahuah and of Yeshua the anointed, and shall reign with Yeshua a thousand years. Revelation 20:6 KJV
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from Yahuah out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of Yahuah is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and Yahuah himself shall be with them, and be their El Shaddai. Revelation 21:1-3 KJV

I really enjoyed this article. Thank you for sharing. The Melchizedek priestly order is very important to understand as we, the bondservants of Yeshua, are committed to service in this order of royal priests with Yeshua as our High Priest. I recently posted an article that you may find interesting. It chronicles the origins of our identity through Genesis 1 & 2. I would love to get your take on it. The Substack link is below. Thank you again for your faithful service to our Master Yeshua and His eternal Kingdom.
